The Grampian (Corby) Association
Built by the Members. For the Members

Home

The Aberdeen and North East Counties Association was set up around the late 50's/early 60's to create a focal community meeting place for "ex Pats" from the area. Monthly social evenings were held with buffet dances in various local halls and as these were so popular, the idea arose that we should have Private Premises where North East folk could meet socially.

Thus the Grampian(Corby)Association arose- Built on premises at Patrick Road and opened to A. & N.E. Counties people in 1978. Over the following years membership was opened to people from outside the above specified area- thus two categories of membership evolved - full member and Associate member. This continued until such time "Equal Membership became appropriate.

Over time an extension was added to the the building which gave an extra lounge/dance area/bar with toilet facilities and this was named thr "Norman Mutch Suite" in recognition of the man who had first set up the A & NE Counties Association.Over the years a 6 rink Bowling Green was added in 1983 with changing room facilities.

In 2007 a refurbishment of the concert hall was completed to include an extra bar, new kitchen and eating area.
